Support Martin Smith – Defend the right to protest
Martin Smith, the national coordinator of Love Music Hate Racism and an officer of Unite Against Fascism, faces a serious charge following the demo against British National Party leader Nick Griffin’s appearance on the BBC’s Question Time.
Martin was arrested on the protest and has been charged with assaulting a police officer. He strenuously denies the charge.
Thousands of people joined the UAF demo on 22 October last year against nazi Nick Griffin’s invitation onto the flagship Question Time programme. The demo was backed by trade unions Unite, PCS, CWU, Bectu, Aslef, TSSA, the Musicians Union and the South East Regional TUC.
Support Martin by joining us outside the court.

it is the right of the People to alter or abolish it and to institute new Government."

check out part one of Red Saunders' latest photographic project:
Hidden History
No.1 William Cuffay and the London Chartists, 1848
Red calls HIDDEN a photographic 'chamber epic' (a description suggested by the playwright Trevor Griffiths) which recreates events in the long struggle for parliamentary representation and democracy in Britain. Not the history of Kings and Queens, but of the 'Hidden' neglected scenes of working class history.
This was no smooth gradual transition, many actions in this long struggle were of life and death intensity as working people fought for their rights while struggling to keep alive the history made by mass movements of dissenters, non conformists, radicals and revolutionaries.
